Developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., this behavioral therapy method teaches four modules of skills: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. Linehan originally developed DBT to treat Borderline Personality Disorder. It is applied to many other populations as well and can be very effective. I co-lead a group at New Perspectives Counseling Center, from 2016-2018 and have been using it with individuals ever since.

By developing better emotional regulation and awareness of one’s self you can “live a life worth living” which is the DBT motto.
